2026-01-12 PSA - 5 Mile Road Closure

Traffic Advisory as of Monday, January 12, 2026 at 2:50 pm

ZIMOVIA HIGHWAY LANE CLOSURE - MILE 5

On behalf of the Alaska Department of Transportation, the City and Borough of Wrangell is advising the public about a lane closure on Zimovia Highway at Mile 5 due to a culvert washout.

Traffic Impacts:

  • The southbound lane is closed
  • The closure is expected to last several days while repairs are completed

Motorists are asked to reduce speed, follow posted traffic control, and obey flaggers if in the area. Updates will be provided as conditions change.

Please Remember:

  • Follow all posted traffic control and signage
  • Reduce speed and use caution through the area
  • Watch for workers and equipment
  • Be prepared for temporary delays
