TSUS Institutions Achieve Record Enrollment of 107,500 Students, Up 5%

(AUSTIN) - Texas State University System member institutions enrolled a record 107,534 students this fall, an increase of five percent according to preliminary enrollment data. Semester credit hour enrollment, which measures students' course work and academic time, exceeded 1.2 million this fall - also a record.

Headcount enrollment gains were particularly strong at Sul Ross State University (up 25 percent), Texas State University (up 7 percent), and the Lamar State Colleges in Southeast Texas. Headcount enrollment at these two-year institutions increased by double digits: Lamar Institute of Technology increased 16 percent to 7,569; Lamar State College Orange increased 11 percent to 5,731, and Lamar State College Port Arthur increased 12 percent to 5,465.

"Reaching another enrollment record is a tremendous accomplishment, and it reflects the hard work and dedication of the presidents, faculty, staff, and countless others at each of our member institutions who are committed to helping more Texans achieve their educational goals," said TSUS Chancellor Brian McCall. "Every additional student we welcome represents another opportunity to change a life, strengthen a family and prepare a talented graduate to contribute to the Texas workforce."

While undergraduate enrollment grew by an impressive six percent, from 84,014 in fall 2025 to 89,144 this fall, TSUS institutions also made significant gains in attracting graduate and non-traditional students. For example, Texas State University experienced a 30 percent increase in doctoral students, pushing the total number of TSUS doctoral students to more than 2,500 - the highest in TSUS history.

Dual credit students - high school students enrolled in college-level courses - increased 19 percent to more than 12,600 across all TSUS institutions. At Sam Houston State University's polytechnic college - SamPoly - headcount enrollment increased an impressive 287 percent. SamPoly offers polytechnic certificates and applied associate degrees to provide students with hands-on, practical experiences that translate directly into marketable skills.

Preliminary enrollment data are based on 12^th class day enrollment numbers and are subject to change prior to final certification.
