Luke J. Lindberg at Villa Europa

Ambassador Martin Selmayr and his team welcomed yesterday to Villa Europa Luke J. Lindberg, the US nominee for the position of Executive Director of the WFP.

A very constructive meeting was held where they exchanged views on the crucial importance of WFP as multilateral organisation to help those in need. As main donors, they also discussed how to secure the funding of WFP in the years to come. There was an agreement on the need to further improve, in the context of the ongoing UN reform, the collaboration between WFP and FAO to avoid overlap and ensure their complementarity.
