Main Line Health's Shelly Buck next in line to chair HAP's Board of Directors

Monday, November 2, 2026

Bryn Mawr, PA - Shelly Buck, DNP, MBA, President of Ambulatory and Professional Services for Main Line Health, has been appointed Board Chair-Elect of The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) for 2026-2027 and will transition to Board Chair in the 2028-2029 term.

HAP is governed by a board of 24 healthcare leaders from across Pennsylvania. It represents 235 member hospitals from across the state, as well as the patients and communities they serve, advocating on their behalf to state and federal lawmakers and agencies.

Mark A. Rubino, MD, MMM, President of Forbes and Allegheny Valley Hospitals, was elected Chair of HAP. Dr. Buck will assume the role after his two-year term expires.

"I'm honored to serve as HAP's board chair-elect and to collaborate with fellow leaders across the state," said Dr. Buck, who currently serves as HAP Board Secretary. "Pennsylvania's hospitals face significant challenges, from financial pressures and workforce shortages to cybersecurity threats. I look forward to working alongside Dr. Rubino and preparing to lead the board as we advance innovative solutions, expand access to high-quality care and build healthier communities across the commonwealth."

As President of Ambulatory and Professional Services, Dr. Buck leads the continued growth and integration of the System's ambulatory, emergency medical services and professional services, ensuring these areas remain a strong foundation.

Previously, Dr. Buck served as President of Riddle Hospital. She displayed strength and resilience during her tenure, most notably during the closure of Crozer Health. Through her steadfast leadership, she guided Riddle Hospital through the challenge with focus and compassion while ensuring that patients and the Delaware County community impacted by the closure had uninterrupted access to high-quality and equitable care. She also played a pivotal role in the successful opening of the Riddle Hospital Pavilion in 2023, a state-of-the-art facility that expands access to advanced care and enhances the patient and family experience.

"I am pleased to congratulate Shelly Buck on her appointment as Chair-Elect," HAP President and CEO Nicole Stallings said. "Shelly has been a strong voice for engaging community partners in advocacy at the local, state and federal levels for high-quality, accessible care. On the board, Shelly has brought her extensive healthcare leadership experience to conversations about improving healthcare access and outcomes for Pennsylvania patients, including chairing HAP's Task Force on Maternal and Child Health. Her perspective will continue to elevate HAP's and the board's work to support hospitals and the communities they care for."

In addition to her leadership as Riddle Hospital's President, Dr. Buck's other key responsibilities previously included serving as System executive of the women's health and senior health services service lines, as well as EMS/transportation services.
