The New York Law Journal has again named Dechert among its top law firms of the year, highlighting successes in innovation, product liability litigation and real estate finance in the New York Legal Awards 2025. These awards were established to honor those firms, lawyers and judges who, in the publication's view, have made "a remarkable difference in the legal profession in New York".
At a firmwide level, Dechert was named a "Law Firm of the Year" finalist after a sustained focus on innovation and client service resulted in the firm's best-ever financial results.
In the "Law Firm Innovation" category, Dechert was named winner for the second successive year. This year's success resulted from the firm's Task Automation Initiative, a framework that allows Dechert's Innovation Team to build and deploy process automation tools extremely rapidly. New automations this year have included automated scraping and parsing of datasets, chat automation, and flexible automation tools designed to advance client-specific projects.
Emily Van Tuyl, a New York-based partner in the firm's product liability and mass torts practice, was recognized as a "Rising Star" by the publication. Ms. Van Tuyl, a litigator and trial lawyer who represents clients in federal and state court litigation at all stages, has had a broad range of clients drawn from the pharmaceutical, medical device, consumer products, biotechnology, internet and e-commerce sectors and has been a member of multiple successful trial teams.
Dechert teams were also shortlisted in two other categories. The firm's product liability and mass torts team was named a finalist in the "Litigation Department of the Year" category for multiple victories in appellate, federal and state courts across the country.
Dechert also featured in the "Real Estate Transaction of the Year" category for driving the refinancing of New York's iconic Rockefeller Center through a US$3.5 billion commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) loan. A global finance team led by partner Jason Rozes and firm co-chair David Forti advised Bank of America and Wells Fargo as co-lenders on the CMBS loan, the largest on record for a single office property.
Winners and honorees were recognized at a ceremony at the Ziegfield Ballroom in New York City on September 4.
