Weather warnings moving to Gov.je

04 August 2026

From 6 August 2026, Channel Islands weather warnings will be published on gov.je/weather.

This is part of programme of work to move weather warnings onto Gov.je, following feedback asking us to bring the warnings and weather forecasts together in one place.

Allowing them to be accessible by a much wider audience, as well as providing clearer information about potential impacts.

If there are no weather warnings in force when the service goes live, there will be very little visible change for users initially.

However, extensive work has taken place behind the scenes to prepare for the launch. The changes will become more apparent when the first weather warnings are issued through the new system.

Government of Jersey and I&E social media accounts will continue to provide forecasts and warnings in more extreme weather events/when appropriate.

What's changing?

  • warnings will be available on the Jersey and Bailiwick of Guernsey forecast pages
  • Channel Island Shipping Area wind warnings will be published on both warning webpages as they cover the larger Shipping Forecast area
  • the warnings have been redesigned, with improved layouts and clearer impact descriptions to help people quickly find key information.

How to access weather warnings

  • when a weather warning is in force, a banner will appear at the top of the relevant forecast page with a direct link to the warnings
  • the warnings page will show how many warnings are currently in effect. If more than one warning has been issued, users can scroll down to view all active warnings
  • if no warnings have been issued, this will be clearly stated on the forecast page and no banner will appear.
