Royce Avenue to Temporarily Close for Railroad Crossing Replacement
JOLIET, Ill. - The City of Joliet is notifying residents and motorists that Royce Avenue will be closed between Cleveland Avenue and Ward Avenue beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, through approximately 8:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026.
The temporary road closure is necessary to allow the Canadian National Railway (CN) to replace the railroad grade crossing.
Due to limited impact on local traffic, a signed detour will not be provided. Advance notification signs have been installed in the area to alert motorists of the upcoming closure.
The City encourages drivers to use alternate routes and exercise caution when traveling near the work zone. For additional information, please contact the City of Joliet Department of Public Works at 815-724-4200.
