Board of County Commissioners' Schedule for August 31 - September 4

MONDAY, August 31
7:30 a.m. - Community Office Hours with Commissioner Porter-Norton

Commissioner Marsha Porter-Norton will host Community Office Hours in Durango from 7:30 am to 9:00 am for members of the public to discuss county issues of interest or concern. The event will be held at the 11th Street Station, 1101 Main Avenue in Durango.

10:30 a.m. - "Our Childcare Journey" Event
The Board is invited to attend a community meeting to discuss the next step in La Plata County's childcare journey. The event will be held at 11th Street Station, located at 1101 Main Avenue in Durango.

12:30 p.m. - Weekly Work Session
The Board will meet with county leadership to discuss emerging issues, identify
and align upcoming priorities, coordinate communications, and determine the appropriate venue for future board discussions. An agenda for this meeting

2:00 p.m. - Executive Session
Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute § 24-6-402 (4), upon the affirmative vote
of two-thirds of the quorum present, the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will hold an executive session to discuss the following matters:

  1. For purposes of the Board receiving legal advice on specific legal questions pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-6-402(4)(b). Purpose: Legal requirements of various personnel investigations.

Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute § 24-6-402 (4), upon the affirmative vote
of two-thirds of the quorum present, the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will hold an executive session to discuss the following matters:

  1. For purposes of the Board receiving legal advice on specific legal questions pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-6-402(4)(b). Purpose: Wildfire resiliency code authorities and obligations, Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-33.5-1236 & 1237 and the wildfire resiliency code adopted by La Plata County.
  2. Determining positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiations; developing strategy for negotiations; and instructing negotiators pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-6-402(4)(e).
    Purpose: Negotiations regarding a cooperative agreement for wildfire resiliency code administration and enforcement between La Plata County
    and the fire protection districts within La Plata County.

WEDNESDAY, September 2
8:30 a.m. - Board Discussion Time
The Commissioners will meet with staff in the Board Room to discuss various issues.

4:00 p.m. - Commissioner Chat with Matt Salka in Bayfield
Commissioner Matt Salka will host Commissioner Chat in Bayfield from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm for members of the public to discuss county issues of interest or concern. The event will be held at the Pine River Library, located at 395 Bayfield Center Drive.
