ICYMI: DNC, DGA Hold Press Call Kickstarting Democrats’ Path to Victory This Fall Election Cycle Arrow

Today, DNC Chair Ken Martin, DGA Executive Director Meghan Meehan-Draper, DNC Vice Chair Pennsylvania State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta, Virginia Democratic Party Chair State Sen. Lamont Bagby, and New Jersey State Democratic Party Chair LeRoy Jones held a press call kicking off the final sprint to November elections as Democrats gear up to win up and down the ballot in New Jersey, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and across the country.

During the call, the speakers emphasized that from now until Election Day, Democrats are keeping their foot on the gas, organizing and meeting voters until no stone is left unturned, in order to elect strong Democratic candidates who will fight back against Donald Trump and Republicans' disastrous agenda and stand up for working families.

Find highlights from the call below:

"Momentum is on our side. We have our foot on the gas pedal, and that's why the DNC is proud to have put an initial investment of $1.5 million in support of Virginia and into New Jersey's elections this year. These are some of the earliest and biggest investments the DNC has ever made, and will make a huge difference. And today, we're proud to announce that on Tuesday, we're going to host a fall election organizing call to focus our volunteer energy towards voter contact for the 2025 elections in Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and, of course, for the California ballot measure," said DNC Chair Ken Martin. "We're going to continue to invest and do everything we can. … One of the reasons I was successful in Minnesota is we don't rest on our laurels. We always run like we're 20 points behind, even if we're 20 points ahead. With 60 days left until this election, certainly momentum is on our side, but we're not going to rest on that. We're going to do everything we can, partnering with fantastic folks over at the DGA to win these governors races."

"Virginia has been hit the hardest by Donald Trump and Elon Musk's DOGE cuts. Winsome Sears, [the] Republican candidate, has defended these cuts; she mocked the concerns of Virginians who've been laid off and lost their jobs, famously saying, 'everybody loses their jobs all the time,' and saying 'it's not a big deal.' And in New Jersey, Jack Ciattarelli has promised to bring Trump's agenda to Trenton. He is talking about raising taxes by 10% on everybody in New Jersey, and he's just catering Trump's support left and right," said DGA Executive Director Meghan Meehan-Draper. "So these races in New Jersey and Virginia are the first opportunities for voters to show up to elect a state leader for the first time since Trump 2.0. It's the first time they can reject his chaos in Washington, DC. They can reject the big, beautiful bill and make their voices heard. So the stakes are incredibly high. This will also help us build momentum as we move into 2026."

"The Democratic Party in Virginia, in New Jersey, and in Pennsylvania is operating out of the playbook of my boss and our chair, Ken Martin, that if you organize everywhere, you can win anywhere. And that's what we're doing," said DNC Vice Chair and Pennsylvania State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta. "You actually have some stuff that you can talk about that just happened right now, super majorities, that we are breaking races, that we are winning, that nobody said Democrats could win, and we are going to win in New Jersey. We are going to win in Virginia. We are going to retain our justices here in Pennsylvania, because the Democratic Party believes in making people's lives better, making their lives better, making their lives more affordable."

"[Mikie Sherrill's] been that leader and that champion of voice for affordability, working class people up and down the state, regardless of your ethnicity [and] your income. … She has been one that has been a universal uniter, and not a divider," said New Jersey State Democratic Party Chair Leroy Jones. "We all know her background, and it's stepped in service for this nation. But more importantly, she has that passion and that desire to serve people - not just a group of elite people, [but] the masses that make up New Jersey and its diversity, which we understand and Mikie understands is our strength. The unity that we have is that galvanizing force that's going to bring her to victory."

Donald Trump has attacked Virginia in so many ways, whether it's our education system, our pre-K through 12 systems, or our higher education system, attacking VMI and running their president out, attacking George Mason University, UVA, marquee institutions here in the Commonwealth. And so we want to make sure that we have an attorney general and a governor in particular that are going to fight back and fight Donald Trump instead of being weak," said Democratic Party of Virginia Chair and Virginia State Sen. Lamont Bagby. "Folks are fed up, ready to do the work, and we're going to see record numbers in participation, record numbers of support during the campaign, knocking doors, making phone calls, and making contributions to these campaigns. I couldn't pick a better group of individuals from Abigail Spanberger, Ghazala Hashmi, Jay Jones, and Speaker Scott, because we have 100 members in our house, we have 100 candidates running on our side… and we know that we're going to increase our majority in the House to make sure that we keep Speaker Scott."
