Statement from Devon Murphy Anderson, Executive Director of the Maine Democratic Party on ICE activity in Maine:

"The Trump administration has deployed ICE agents to Portland, Lewiston, and possibly other Maine communities. This is not about public safety. It is about fear, control, and political theater - and Senator Susan Collins enabled it when she cast her vote to confirm Kristi Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security. Now, Noem and the Trump administration's policies are causing chaos in our communities.

"Make no mistake, Susan Collins has the power to push back on the Trump administration and oppose these tactics - but she's choosing not to. Just like she had the power to save affordable health care for thousands of Mainers, but chose not to.

"Maine communities do not need masked federal agents conducting raids in our neighborhoods. We need affordable health care. We need relief from rising grocery and heating costs. We need our hospitals to stay open and a solution to our housing crisis. We need leaders who fight for working families - which Collins has proven time and time again that she will never do.

"Maine Democrats stand with our neighbors. We support peaceful protest and encourage all Mainers to know their rights and to save the Maine Ice Watch Hotline number in their phones: 207-544-9989.

"Maine will not be intimidated. We will look out for one another. We will document abuses. And in November, we will remember who made these choices."
