West Bengal Madhyamik & HS Exam 2027 Postponement Proposed: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) and Higher Secondary Council (WBCHSE) has proposed postponing the West Bengal Madhyamik and HS 2027 examinations. Originally scheduled to start from mid-February 2027, the exams are now likely shift to early March to prevent administrative conflicts. The state's School Education Department, headed by Minister Dipak Burman, is currently analyzing this proposal before issuing a final notice.
The main factor driving this proposed delay is the upcoming nationwide Census operations. Phase two of field enumeration will run from January 25 to February 28, 2027, followed by a revisional round in early March. A massive section of government school teachers are routinely assigned to Census duties during this period. Since these exact teachers are required for invigilation and exam management, holding board exams in February causes serious staff shortages. WBBSE President Laltu Das clarified that while the date change remains a proposal awaiting official government approval, shifting tests ensures smooth execution of both operations.
Under the proposed revised routine, the Class 10 board exams will take place from March 2 to March 16, 2027. Exams will be conducted from 10:45 AM to 2:00 PM, where candidates gets 15 minutes exclusively to read question papers before writing starts at 11:00 AM.
