Slope Repair Project on State Route 4 near the Bailey Road Exit in Pittsburg

Monday-Friday 6AM to 2PM Daily

Contra Costa County - Caltrans is scheduled to begin a slope repair project Monday September 15, 2025, 6AM- 2PM daily Monday-Friday on State Route 4 (SR-4) in the City of Pittsburg, near the Bailey Road exit, to reconstruct the slope embankment using Rock Slope Protection (RSP) while repairing and reconnecting the down drain to the existing drainage inlet; caused by storm damage during the heavy rainfall in February and March 2025. This work is necessary to restore slope stability and ensure proper drainage along the corridor.

Caltrans will close 1000 ft. of the right shoulder near Bailey Road (South 20A) EXIT on SR-4 and will remain CLOSED, during the duration of the project.

Work Details SR-4, near Bailey Road exit in Pittsburg:

  • Hours: Monday- Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Traffic Impacts: Right shoulder closed in the area for the safety of workers and traveling public. One lane is slated to be closed Eastbound SR-4 on the morning of September 15th and October 31st for K-rail installation and removal.
