Cornell Law Deepens East Asian Ties with NTU Exchange and Tokyo and Taipei Workshops

Cornell Law School has launched a new student exchange partnership with the National Taiwan University (NTU) College of Law, widely recognized as Taiwan's leading law school. This initiative builds on Cornell Law's long-standing exchange program with Waseda University School of Law, one of Japan's most prestigious law schools. The three institutions now form a dynamic triad of academic partnership-true sister schools across East Asia and the United States.

To mark this milestone, the inaugural Waseda-NTU-Cornell Interdisciplinary Workshop was held at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan, on July 30-31. The event brought together scholars from all three institutions to share research, foster dialogue, and deepen institutional collaboration. After the workshop in Tokyo, three faculty members travelled to Taipei, Taiwan, for the first-ever NTU-Waseda-Cornell Interdisciplinary Workshop held at National Taiwan University College of Law on August 4. Dean Shuichi Furuya (Waseda), Vice Dean Kyoko Ishida (Waseda), Dean Huang-Yu Wang (NTU), and Vice Dean Sieh-Chuen Huang (NTU) actively engaged in the academic dialogue.

Each faculty member presented a working paper and engaged in lively discussions with Taiwanese scholars from NTU and Japanese scholars from Waseda University School of Law, enriching the exchange with comparative and interdisciplinary perspectives. These landmark workshops were co-sponsored by the Clarke Program in East Asian Law and Culture and generously supported by the Tokyo-based law firm Mori Hamada & Matsumoto, one of Japan's leading firms and a loyal alumni affiliate and friend of Cornell Law School.
