Strengthening Mental Health Support in DuPage County

Every year, World Mental Health Day reminds us that mental well-being is essential to healthy, thriving communities. Here in West Chicago, that commitment is being put into action with the opening of the new DuPage County Crisis Recovery Center (CRC)-a place where West Chicago residents, along with others across the county, can find immediate, compassionate support for mental health or substance use challenges, any time of day or night.

A Lifeline for West Chicago Residents

The CRC is designed to make help accessible when it's needed most. For West Chicago families, this means having a trusted place nearby to turn during a mental health emergency or substance use crisis. The center provides a safe space for stabilization, guidance, and connection to long-term care.

Services include:

  • Up to 24 hours of crisis observation, intervention, and stabilization for youth and adults.

  • Withdrawal management and sobering services for adults facing substance use challenges.

  • Connection to ongoing treatment and community-based resources.

  • Trauma-informed, recovery-focused care from a team of caring professionals.

Who can access services?

  • Youth ages 5-17 in DuPage County.

  • Adults ages 18+ in DuPage County.

  • Children under 5 will be assessed for immediate needs and connected to specialized providers.

All services are voluntary, and no one is turned away due to inability to pay. The CRC accepts commercial insurance and Medicaid.
