McQuillan, an actor, singer and author, will return to campus for "Making His Own Magic," a conversation celebrating creativity, innovation and the evolution of performance. A 2010 Illinois College theatre graduate, McQuillan's career has spanned stage, screen and beyond.
His connection to Illinois College runs deep. McQuillan helped build the Illinois College Experimental Black Box Theatre (ICEBOX) and performed in its inaugural production. Since graduating, he has expanded his creative work across multiple disciplines, including writing and directing an original one-act musical for his Theatre capstone. This will be the final theatrical performance in the ICEBOX Theatre.
His professional credits also include voice acting for The Amazing World of Gumball, along with audiobook and commercial work. Most recently, he has brought storytelling to life in a new way through his musical novel Love in the Light, a light-hearted gay romance featuring interactive QR codes that unlock original songs.
The event is free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to attend and hear how one Illinois College graduate turned creativity into a career.
