Congresswoman Pou Leads District Mayors Conference

SADDLE BROOK, NJ - Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09) on Friday held a roundtable with 31 mayors, managers, and administrators from across the 35 cities and towns in Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic Counties within the Ninth District.

"We have 35 vibrant cities and towns in our district, many represented here today. All of you should view our office as your resource. Where you need federal help of any kind, let's work as a team on behalf of our residents. That is how we get the best results for our communities," Congresswoman Pou told the assembled mayors and municipal leaders.

At the conference, Pou outlined her recent work in Washington, efforts to improve water infrastructure, and discussed federal programs and grants available to district communities that her office can help secure.

Mayors, administrators, municipal managers, and councilors in attendance included those from Clifton, East Rutherford, Edgewater, Elmwood Park, Fairview, Franklin Lakes, Garfield, Haledon, Kearny, Little Ferry, Lodi, Maywood, Moonachie, North Haledon, Oakland, Passaic, Pompton Lakes, Ridgefield, Rochelle Park, Rutherford, Saddle Brook, Secaucus, South Hackensack, and Teterboro.

The meeting also included presentations from Laine Rankin, the Assistant Commissioner for Local Resources & Community Development at the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and from Abbie Tang-Smith, the Uniting Financial Resources Lead at the state Department of Environmental Protection to discuss the federally funded resources available to towns to rebuild roads, bridges, and water systems.
