Project updates for the weeks of Dec. 22 and 29, 2025

Anderson County

Palestine crews are scheduled to patch potholes and repair edges at various locations throughout the county.

Anderson County construction projects updates:

US 175 Widening Project

  • Limits: From 0.4 miles SE of SH 155, SE to Cuney
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction, LTD
  • Cost: $55.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2026

Traffic is currently being switched to the new pavement on the westbound lane, while the contractor works on the eastbound lane. Pavement operations are scheduled to begin in Frankston the week of Dec. 22. Crews will also finalize ditches and slopes. The project will expand the roadway to four lanes with new bridges across the Neches River.

FM 1990; FM 861; FM 19 - Safety Improvement Project

  • Limits: FM 1990 - 0.1 mile north of Gum Creek to CR 2137; FM 861 - Box culvert to CR 100; FM 19 - SH 155 to 0.125 miles south of Caddo Creek
  • Contractor: THK Construction
  • Cost: $1.6 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2026

The contractor is scheduled to continue work on FM 1990, widening and clearing the area near the structures. The project consists of improving drainage, driveways, culverts, and upgrading the guard rail for safety.

Cherokee County

Cherokee County construction projects updates:

US 175 Widening Project

  • Limits: From 0.5 miles E of the Anderson County line (CR 3509) to FM 347 in Jacksonville
  • Contractor: A.L. Helmcamp, INC.
  • Cost: $168 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2028

The following county road intersections will be closed within the project limits:

  • CR 3328: local traffic will need to use the posted detour route.
  • CR 3406: local traffic will need to use the posted detour route.
  • CR 3407: local traffic will need to use the posted detour route.
  • CR 3416: local traffic will need to use the posted detour route.

The contractor is scheduled to continue work on the eastbound side through Cuney. Right of way prep work will also continue on the westbound side. The contractor will also continue drainage work, bridge work, and clearing utilities. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the work limits. The speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph throughout the project limits. The project consists of expansion to a four-lane roadway with new bridges, grading, asphalt, drainage structures, pavement markings, and signage. (This project is in Cherokee County but is managed by the Athens Area Office.)

FM 855 Improvements

  • Limits: From US 175 to US 69
  • Contractor: 3LW Civil LLC
  • Cost: $4.1 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2027

The contractor is scheduled to continue cross structure expansion work and right of way prep. Motorists should drive with caution within the construction zone. No lane closures are anticipated. This project consists of improving drainage, cross culverts, driveways, mailbox turnouts, signage, and metal beam guard rail.

SH 204

  • Limits: From SH 110 to the Rusk County line
  • Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
  • Cost: $22.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Late 2025

This week, the contractor is scheduled to continue permanent striping, mailbox installation, sign installation, culvert work, and more. Motorists should drive with caution within the construction zone. Lane closures are anticipated. This project consists of adding a super-two highway section.

US 69 and FM 2493 Grade Separated Interchange Realignment

  • Limits: US 69 - From 0.5 mi N of FM 2493 W to 0.5 mi south of FM 2493 E; FM 2493 - From 0.3 mi south of FM 344 to US 69 near Bullard
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $38.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2027

Motorists should expect short-term lane closures on FM 2493, north of Panther Dr. Crews are scheduled to perform dirt work, tying in FM 2493 and US 69. Crews will also work on construction of the detour, north of Panther Dr, as well as work on the northbound frontage road. Motorists should also be aware of the changes scheduled to begin next week, including speed limit changes at the intersection. A temporary traffic signal will also begin operation on Monday, Jan. 5. The project consists of a grade separated interchange and realignment of FM 2493 West of US 69.

Gregg County

Longview crews are scheduled to sweep and patch potholes at various locations throughout the county.

Gregg County construction projects updates:

FM 2275

  • Limits: FM 3272 (White Oak Rd) to FM 1845 (Pine Tree Rd)
  • Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road
  • Cost: $22.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2027

The project consists of widening from two lanes to four lanes. This will include a new bridge structure, pavement, metal beam guard fence, and striping. Crews are scheduled to install concrete barriers, excavating roadway to new grade, and installing storm culverts.

I-20 at the Sabine River Bridge

  • Limits: 0.9 miles west of the Sabine River to 0.8 miles east of the Sabine River
  • Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road
  • Cost: $36.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2028

This project consists of removal of the existing bridge and replacing with a new bridge. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction for the majority of the project. At times, I-20 will be reduced to one lane. This project includes new pavement, metal beam guard fence, signage, and striping. This week, the contractor is scheduled to clear the right of way.

Young St. - City of Longview

  • Limits: Mobberly Ave. to MLK Blvd.
  • Contractor: C&W Southern, LLC
  • Cost: $620,200
  • Anticipated Completion Date: December 2025

This project consists of constructing sidewalks and accessible ramps for people with disabilities on both sides of Mobberly Ave. This week, the contractor will be clearing right of way and pouring concrete for the sidewalk on the south side of the street.

I-20 Resurfacing

  • Limits: Sabine River bridge to the Harrison County line
  • Contractor: Grey Sky Construction LLC
  • Cost: $2.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: December 2025

This project consists of milling asphalt off the surface and placing new hot mix asphalt from the Sabine River bridge to the Harrison County line. Work will be done in both the east and westbound lanes. The contractor is scheduled to perform punch list items and striping. Motorists should expect lane closures during overnight hours.

Henderson County

For the weeks of Dec. 22 and Dec. 29, Athens crews are scheduled to perform erosion control, pothole repair, and edge repairs at various locations.

Henderson County construction projects updates:

BUS 19 Sidewalks

  • Limits: From Ben Belt Frontage Rd. To S Loop 7 ramps
  • Contractor: 3LW Civil, LCC
  • Cost: $2.6 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2025

The contractor is nearing completion. The contractor is finalizing areas along the corridor. Motorists should expect lane closures while work is in progress. The project includes sidewalk and pedestrian access improvements.

SH 31 Landscape Development

  • Limits: Within city limits of Chandler, TX; SH 31 and FM 315 S
  • Contractor: Scout 5 Construction LLC
  • Cost: $54,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Early 2026

This project consists of adding landscaping, fresh vegetation, and edging. Motorists should expect possible lane closures when work is in progress. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the work zone.

SH 19 Super 2 Project

  • Limits: From 0.3 miles south of FM 1861 (Van Zandt C/L) south to 0.1 Mi. north of SL 7 in Athens (Watson)
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction LTD
  • Cost: $20.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

The contractor will continue to cement treat the widened areas and place base material. Crews will also prep for hot mix asphalt operations. The speed limit is reduced to 60 mph throughout the project limits. This project includes adding passing lanes in both directions at multiple locations. It also includes grading, drainage structures, pavement markings, and signage.

BUS 31 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: From BUS 19 to SL 7
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction LTD
  • Cost: $8.1 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work are complete.

The project includes removal of current surface, base repairs, resurfacing, striping, and signage.

Rusk County

Henderson crews will be repairing edges and patching potholes at various locations the next two weeks. Expect lane closures with flaggers and a pilot car controlling traffic.

Rusk County construction projects updates:

US 259

  • Limits: US 259 Bypass south to FM 850
  • Contractor: True Roads Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $2.49 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2026

This project consists of removing some crossovers for safety and adding left turn lanes to the remaining crossovers. The contractor is scheduled to backfill the new embankment for the new turn lanes.

US 84 - FM 225 East to CR 3155

  • Limits: FM 225 east to CR 3155
  • Contractor: Drewery Construction Company
  • Cost: $12.8 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: December 2025

This project includes reconstruction of US 84, extended structures, a hot mix asphalt surface, new signage, and striping. This week, the contractor is scheduled to install the guard fence and perform edge work. Motorists should expect alternating lane closures.

SH 315

  • Limits: US 259 to the Panola County line
  • Contractor: Madden Construction
  • Cost: $13.5 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: December 2025

This project consists of widening pavement edges and installing a separation between opposing traffic lanes to improve safety. Work will also include adding a passing lane in each direction. This week, the contractor is scheduled to lay asphalt. Motorists should expect alternating lane closures. Crews will also perform striping and guard fence installation.

SH 43

  • Limits: FM 1251 north to FM 2658
  • Contractor: Madden Construction
  • Cost: $21.2 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: December 2025

This project consists of milling approximately six inches off the surface and replacing it with new hot mix. The project also includes clearing the right of way, replacing driveway pipes, and striping. This week, the contractor is scheduled to perform edge work and punch list items. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

US 259 and US 79 Landscaping

  • Limits: US 259/79 Star, Wilson St. at US 79, Fairpark St at US 79
  • Contractor: GV Landscape and Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $119,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: February 2026

This project consists of improving and upgrading the flower beds at US 259/US 79, Wilson St., and US 79/Fairpark St. The contractor will be constructing new borders and placing new vegetation. Motorists should expect temporary lane closures.

Smith County

For the weeks of Dec. 22 and Dec. 29, Smith County crews are scheduled to patch potholes and perform edge repairs at various locations throughout the county.

Smith County construction projects updates:

US 69 Rehab Existing Road and Restricted Crossing U-Turn (R-Cut)

  • Limits: Cumberland Road to 0.45 miles north of FM 346
  • Contractor: Drewery Construction Company, INC
  • Cost: $5.8 million

The contractor is scheduled to perform work on the Mudd Creek bridge. Lane closures are expected. This work will be done during daytime hours. This project consists of rehabilitating existing roadway and installing a restricted crossing U-turn (R-Cut) at the FM 2813 intersection.

US 69 and Henderson St.

  • Limits: US 69 at Henderson St.
  • Contractor: Tight Line Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $5.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

The contractor is scheduled to begin beautification work on the medians at US 69 and FM 344. Lane closures are not expected, but motorists should drive with caution. This project consists of beautification work along US 69 in Bullard.

FM 2493 Widen Non-Freeway

  • Limits: FM 346 in Flint, south to 0.3 miles south of FM 344
  • Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road LTD
  • Cost: $52 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2027

The contractor has closed access to CR 172 (Goodson Spur) from FM 2493 for the next four to six weeks as crews work on edge drop-off repairs. Motorists should use CR 177 for the detour. This project consists of widening the existing non-freeway roadway.

Smith County Bridge Rehabilitation

  • Limits: Various locations in the Tyler city limits
  • Contractor: Tight Line Construction, LLC.
  • Cost: $3 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

This week, the contractor is scheduled to place material at the SH 19 bridge in Van Zandt County. Also, crews will be removing the metal beam guard fence at the SS 147 bridge. This project consists of cleaning and sealing the existing bridge joints, asphalt work, resurfacing the bridge deck, installing new metal beam guard fencing, steel and concrete repairs.

I-20 Bridge Maintenance

  • Limits: Bridge locations between Smith and Van Zandt Counties
  • Contractor: Southern Bridge and Road, LLC
  • Cost: $3 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2026

Motorists should expect nightly lane closures on US 69 at I-20. There will also be an eastbound lane closure on the eastbound I-20 service road, just past US 69. The U-turn between US 69 and Jim Hogg Rd. will remain closed. Crews will continue painting the bridge. This project is bridge maintenance consisting of cleaning and painting the existing steel bridge structures.

Smith County Bridge Rehabilitation II

  • Limits: Various locations in the Tyler city limits
  • Contractor: Built Right Construction of Oklahoma, LLC.
  • Cost: $8.1 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2027

No work is scheduled this week. This project consists of cleaning and sealing existing joints, resurfacing the bridge deck, steel and concrete repairs.

FM 16 Widening and Realignment

  • Limits: Four miles west of FM 849 east to US 69 in Lindale
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction LLC
  • Cost: $44.4 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: February 2027

The project consists of grading, asphalt base, asphalt surface overlay paving, storm drain, bridge, and culvert structures, signing, pavement markings, and signals. A traffic shift is currently in place through town. Traffic will be in two lanes during this phase of construction. No work scheduled the weeks of Dec. 22 and Dec. 29 due to the holidays. Paving operations are scheduled to begin in January 2026. (This project is in Smith County but is managed by the Mineola Area Office.)

SH 31 Resurfacing

  • Limits: From Henderson County line to FM 206
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $7.4 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work have been completed.

This project includes base repairs, resurfacing, striping, and sign installation. Awaiting final project acceptance. (This project is in Smith County but is managed by the Athens Area Office.)

Van Zandt County

Canton crews are scheduled to perform equipment maintenance for the next two weeks.

Van Zandt County construction projects updates:

FM 17, FM 47, and FM 859 Bridge Replacement

  • Limits: Bridge at FM 17, FM 47, and FM 859 over I-20
  • Contractor: Indus Bridge and Road
  • Cost: $14.5 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work are completed.

This project includes construction of new bridges and approaches, grading, base and surface work, and installation of metal beam guard fencing. Motorists should expect reduced speed limits and narrowed shoulders on both the I-20 main lanes and frontage roads. All bridges are open to traffic. The contractor is working on punch list items on all bridges.

FM 1255 Rehabilitate Existing Roadway

  • Limits: I-20 to SH 110
  • Contractor: Reynolds & Kay, LTD.
  • Cost: $17.1 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2026

This project is for the rehabilitation of the existing roadway consisting of roadway widening, grading, rework base material, cement treatment, flex base, resurfacing intersections & driveways, extending cross structures, signs, and pavement markings. Work will be completed under live traffic conditions. Right of way prep and tree trimming are ongoing. Roadway rehabilitation operations and cross structure installation are ongoing. This work also consists of milling the existing roadway. Lane closures and speed zone reductions are expected. Motorists should expect delays.

FM 1651 Rehabilitate Existing Roadway

  • Limits: From SH 198 east to SH 19
  • Contractor: Baker & Company Construction, LLC.
  • Cost: $10.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

The contractor is scheduled to continue roadway widening between Tundra and SH 19. This project includes widening the road, repairing the base, adding signs, and painting new stripes. Crews will complete groundwork in one-mile segments. Drivers should expect lane closures and slower speed limits in the area. Motorists should expect delays. (This project is in Van Zandt County but is managed by the Athens Area Office.)

FM 279 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: 0.24 miles east of FM 314 to SH 64
  • Contractor: Big Creek LLC.
  • Cost: $7.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Late 2025

Crews are scheduled to install new signage and mailboxes. Motorists should expect delays and use caution when traveling through the area. Lane closures are in place. The project consists of grading, drainage improvements, asphalt paving, striping, and signage. (This project is in Van Zandt County but is managed by the Athens Area Office.)

Wood County

For the weeks of Dec. 22 and 29, crews are scheduled to continue bridge maintenance at various locations. Crews will also address base repairs on FM 14 between SH 154 and FM 49. Crews will also perform overlay on FM 778 between FM 49 and US 80. Expect lane closures and flaggers controlling traffic.

Wood County construction projects updates:

US 69 Grade-Separated Interchange

  • Limits: From 0.96 miles north of FM 779 to 1.03 miles south of FM 779
  • Contractor: Lamar Companies, LLC
  • Cost: $37.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2026

This project consists of grading, base, asphalt, drainage, structures, overpass, signing, and striping. The project also includes curb and gutter work along the frontage roads. No work is scheduled the week of Dec. 22 due to the holidays. Crews will continue cross structure work and driveway pipes the week of Dec. 29. Traffic is now on temporary paving south of existing US 69. Motorists should expect delays when work is in progress.

  • Limits: Gregg, Smith, and Van Zandt counties
  • Contractor: Firemen Excavation, maintenance activities, follow up action worksheet summary for bridge work repair in Gregg, Smith, and Van Zandt Counties.
  • Debris Removal/Pothole Repair Main Lanes: Monday through Thursday in all three counties.
