USDA announces $2.4M investment in Harrison County water system

U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Kentucky State Director Travis T. Burton today announced a $2.4 million investment in the Harrison County water system.

"Whether it's a new water treatment plant, new water mains, or new meters, projects like this help keep water systems functioning as intended for years to come," said Burton. "Thanks to the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Rollins, USDA Rural Development continues to invest in water systems across rural Kentucky because we know that water is essential to life, health, and economic vitality."

Harrison County Water Association will use a $2,437,000 Water and Waste Disposal Loan to replace asbestos cement water main along US-27 and extend water main along KY-353. These replacements will create a loop that connects two existing water mains while connecting 15 homes and eliminating stagnant water.

To date in this administration, USDA Rural Development has invested over $65.4 million through various Water & Environmental Programs across rural Kentucky. These programs provide funding for the construction of water and waste facilities in rural communities and are the only federal programs exclusively focused on rural water and waste infrastructure needs of rural communities with populations of 10,000 or less.
