Governor Joe Lombardo today thanked teachers across Nevada with a letter to educators and a proclamation recognizing Teacher Appreciation Week. The letter was sent to the state's 74,360 licensed educators, thanking them for their work in classrooms and reinforcing his support for Nevada's teachers.
"You are shaping the next generation of Nevadans, and the progress we are making as a state would not be possible without your tireless efforts," said Governor Lombardo in his letter. "For that, I am deeply grateful."
This year's Teacher Appreciation Week comes as the state nearly doubled the amount of state-funded pre-K seats in the Nevada Ready program. Governor Lombardo also reaffirmed his commitment to educators, securing $250 million for teacher pay raises in 2023 and continuing efforts to make those raises permanent and extend them to charter schoolteachers in 2025.
"I want to be clear: my commitment to Nevada's educators isn't temporary, it's ongoing," continued Governor Lombardo. "Today and in the years ahead, I will continue working alongside you to address what matters most: competitive compensation, access to classroom resources, and preparing our students with a modernized, dynamic education."
