Greetings,

Thank you for your interest in the amendments to the home based business (home occupation) section of the Olympia Municipal Code.

Here are some updates on the project:
  • The draft amendments are available on the Engage Olympia webpage. There are two documents showing the amendments; both contain the same proposed changes, but the "annotated" version contains comments in the margins explaining the changes.
  • The Olympia Planning Commission will be briefed on the proposed amendments at their regularly scheduled meeting on July 20, 2026. A public hearing before the Olympia Planning Commission is scheduled for August 17, 2026. Meeting details will be available on the "Agendas and Minutes" webpage at City of Olympia - Calendar. The staff report for the meeting will be posted a few days prior to the meeting.
  • Written comments are welcome and will be provided to the Olympia Planning Commission when they review the proposed amendments.
