Win Naing, age 21, of Utica, New York, was sentenced September 15, 2026, to 4 years in federal prison for possessing child pornography.
First Assistant United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and Craig L. Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) made the announcement.
As part of his prior guilty plea, Naing admitted that during a search of his home in Utica, New York, he possessed a cellular telephone on which he stored hundreds of images and videos of child pornography depicting the sexual abuse of children as young as four. Naing also admitted that he had obtained the child pornography from an internet-based social networking application installed on his phone.
In addition to the term of imprisonment, Chief U.S. District Judge, Brenda K. Sannes sentenced Naing to a 15-year term of supervised release to begin after Naing is released from federal prison at which time Naing will be required to register as a sex offender. Naing was also ordered to pay $21,000.00 in restitution to victims of his offense.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarcone stated, "This defendant's criminal conduct is abhorrent and only serves to revictimize the children depicted in the child sexual abuse material the defendant sought out and collected. The defendant's conduct has now landed him in federal prison, which will hopefully serve as a warning to him and to others inclined to engage in this type of conduct. You will be found and you will be prosecuted."
"Mr. Naing was in possession of a deeply disturbing amount of child sexual abuse material," said Craig Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Albany Field Office. "As he heads to federal prison for the next four years, the FBI's Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force will continue to relentlessly pursue any predator seeking to exploit our children through the collection of this sickening and incredibly harmful content."
