Dr. Elizabeth Kennedy, MoWest president, and Jonathan Arens, general manager of Altec Industries, shake hands after signing the partnership agreement.
Date-Altec, Inc., is the latest St. Joseph employer to join Missouri Western State University's Corporate Education Program. Altec and MoWest formally signed the agreement during a ceremony at the company's St. Joseph manufacturing facility.
"Altec Industries is excited to announce our participation in the MoWest Corporate Education Program," said Carolynn Sollars, Altec Industries' HR Program Manager, Talent Acquisition. "As we look to the future success of our growing business, this newly established partnership will enhance the educational opportunities for our associates and their families."
Through the partnership, Altec associates, their spouses and dependents will receive a 20 percent discount off standard tuition for any undergraduate or graduate program at MoWest, whether delivered in person, online or in a hybrid format.
"Altec is one of the cornerstones of St. Joseph's economy, and we're honored that they recognize the benefit that a MoWest education can make in the lives of their employees and their families," said Dr. Elizabeth Kennedy, MoWest president.
The partnership deepens an already strong relationship between MoWest and Altec. One of the training spaces in MoWest's Houlne Center for Convergent Technology was named the Altec Manufacturing Technology Bay in honor of the company's early and ongoing support of the project, and the company remains a part of the Houlne Industry Advisory Group to help ensure that the center's student training aligns with real-world manufacturing needs.
Altec joins Triumph Foods, the City of St. Joseph and the St. Joseph School District as the first members of the Corporate Education Program.
