Greiner Announces $1.3 Million in Local LSA Grants

HARRISBURG - Today, Rep. Keith Greiner (R-Upper Leacock) announced that the 43rd Legislative District will receive $1,334,027 in Local Share Account (LSA) program grants.

"I advocated for these grants, and I am pleased they were approved today," said Greiner. "We all rely on clean water, working sanitary sewer systems, and well-equipped and maintained public safety infrastructure, to keep us and our communities safe and healthy. The grants will cover all or a significant portion of the total project costs, and because they are paid for with state gambling revenue, taxpayers will not bear the burden."

The following are municipalities or municipal authorities awarded grants today:

Ephrata Borough - $69,221 - on behalf of Lincoln Fire Co. No.1, to replace its emergency radio communications equipment to be compatible with Lancaster's 911 system by January of 2027. The current equipment cannot be upgraded and must be replaced.

Ephrata Borough - $182,806 - on behalf of the Ephrata Community Ambulance Association, for the purchase of a new emergency vehicle to replace one that is now 20 years old and in need of replacement. The new vehicle will be used as a supervisor and emergency response unit. It will be outfitted with the necessary equipment to be in service through the Department of Health and updated with emergency communication equipment compatible with Lancaster County 911.

Lancaster County Redevelopment Authority - $332,000 - on behalf of Fairmount Homes, to replace a generator at the retirement community located in West Earl Township. Fairmount Homes will replace its outdated generator with a new 500KW diesel unit and make related improvements to ensure reliable emergency power for residents and essential facilities. Benefits include uninterrupted backup power, improved safety, reduced risk of equipment failure, and support future expansion.

Upper Leacock Township Municipal Authority - $750,000 - to replace the water main along New Holland Pike in the township. By upgrading the wastewater infrastructure, the project will reduce maintenance issues and costly pipe failures. The main's structural and operational integrity will improve with the replacement of ductile iron cement and PVC force main with new HDPE pipe, as well as the replacement of frequency drive starts and valves.

Each year, the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), which holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments on behalf of the Commonwealth, distributes the state's share of gaming revenue to local governments and programs.
