Learn more about upcoming historic obelisk on Oso Creek Trail Nov. 22 and Dec. 6

The Mission Viejo DAR Chapter and City are commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by creating and installing a mosaic obelisk and an America 250 Patriot Marker.

The public is invited to join the Mission Viejo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution from 9-11 am on November 22 and December 6 at High Ground Coffee House (25522 Marguerite Parkway, Ste 102) to learn more about the America 250 Mosaic Obelisk and America 250 Patriot Marker. During the event, folks can view a model of the Mosaic Obelisk, which features four panel designs created by local artist Maryann Rudolph. These designs will be brought to life using intricately crafted Venetian tiles, depicting powerful symbols and events that celebrate the bravery and sacrifices of patriots.

The completed obelisk will stand 12 feet tall with a 4-foot base and will be located at the Hedge Maze along the Oso Creek Trail, a vibrant and popular site that attracts thousands of Mission Viejo residents and visitors each year. On July 4, 2026, the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the America 250 Mosaic Obelisk and America 250 Patriot Marker will be officially dedicated along the trail.

This initiative is a part of the national America 250! commemoration effort, honoring the courage and sacrifice of the patriots who fought for America's independence and inspiring future generations to imagine the next 250 years.
