The exhibition featured live demonstrations, networking, and informative business presentations from over a dozen internal departments
ORANGE, Conn. - October 27, 2025 - United Illuminating (UI), Connecticut Natural Gas (CNG), and Southern Connecticut Gas (SCG), subsidiaries of Avangrid, Inc., held their annual Avangrid Expo last week for community members and municipal officials to meet the team and learn about the companies' operations and current projects. This was an interactive event, including hands-on demonstrations and professional networking. Fourteen departments were represented to converse with over 50 attendees and present information about their projects, community involvement, investments, safety measures, and more.
"The Avangrid Expo event was a great opportunity to emphasize the need for investment in utility infrastructure," said Frank Reynolds, President & CEO of UI, CNG, and SCG. "We appreciate the chance to connect with stakeholders and highlight the essential work our teams are doing in natural gas, electric operations, safety, innovation and more. I would like to thank our community leaders and local business partners for joining us and attending this exciting and informative expo."
This year's expo was held at the Avangrid headquarters in Orange, Conn. and featured 14 exhibitors such as Customer Service, Electrification, Natural Gas, Energy Efficiency, Cybersecurity, Emergency Management, and more. The robot dog Sparky was one of many innovations that was showcased, showing how UI uses modern technology for automated substation inspection pilots. One of the hands-on demonstrations was presented using a "live line trailer," a real, high-voltage display to teach safety around electrical hazards and explain how highly technical work is performed. The Community Relations team was also on-site to share how UI, SCG, and CNG's volunteering and community-giving programs support the local communities they serve.
"We are pleased to offer the chance for our local community partners and business leaders to engage with various departments to learn about all aspects of the business," said Ted Novicki, Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs for UI, SCG, and CNG. "Everything that we do, from our day-to-day electric and gas operations to updating critical infrastructure, goes towards our goal of providing safe and reliable service. It's important for us to invite stakeholders for an inside look into the utility space to highlight the need for continued investment."
The Expo was attended by representatives from towns such as Bridgeport, Fairfield, Milford, New Haven, and West Haven. Attendees learned about the projects and investments happening in their neighborhoods, emphasizing the need for continued investment in the companies' teams and infrastructure. This event is among many community outreach initiatives hosted by UI, SCG, and CNG throughout the year. The companies will continue to host events and tours for state legislators, municipalities, and community organizations to deepen collaboration and best serve their customers and the community.
