Fitzpatrick Secures $1 Million to Revitalize Downtown Quakertown and Strengthen Critical Infrastructure

Major investment will modernize essential infrastructure, enhance public spaces, and support long-term economic growth in the heart of Quakertown Borough.

Quakertown, PA - Today, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) announced a major victory for Quakertown Borough, securing $1 million in federal Community Project Funding for a comprehensive revitalization of its downtown district-modernizing critical infrastructure, improving accessibility and public safety, and strengthening the foundation for long-term economic growth and community development.

Building on Quakertown's ongoing downtown revitalization efforts, this investment will help strengthen the heart of the Borough as a center of commerce, connection, and community life. By enhancing public spaces, improving essential infrastructure, and creating a more accessible and welcoming downtown, the project will support local businesses, enhance quality of life for residents, and create new opportunities for the community's continued growth.

"Across Bucks and Montgomery Counties, our Main Streets are the pulse of our communities-supporting local businesses, creating jobs, and giving each of our towns its distinct character. For years, I've worked alongside business owners and community leaders to ensure our historic downtowns are not simply preserved, but positioned to prosper. In Quakertown, Borough leaders, local businesses, and residents have demonstrated tremendous initiative in revitalizing their downtown and laying the groundwork for future growth. Together, we identified the infrastructure improvements needed to build on that momentum, attract new investment, and expand economic opportunity, and I was proud to secure $1 million to help advance those efforts. I'm grateful for their partnership, and look forward to building on this progress together as Quakertown continues to thrive," said Fitzpatrick.

Remarking on the significant of the funding, Doug Propst, Quakertown Borough Director of Finance, stated: "The Borough of Quakertown is extremely grateful to receive this $1 million investment from the federal government. These funds will be used in the Borough's continued efforts to improve the downtown for residents, business, and visitors to Quakertown. We are especially grateful to Congressman Fitzpatrick for his efforts in obtaining this funding and commitment to the continued improvement of the community."

Revitalizing Downtown Quakertown, Strengthening the Local Economy

The Quakertown Borough Streetscape Improvement Project will make targeted investments in the infrastructure and public spaces that support a vibrant, accessible, and economically resilient downtown.

Key project improvements include:

  • Modernized Parking and Downtown Accessibility: Renovating public parking facilities to improve convenience, circulation, and access to downtown businesses and community destinations.
  • Safer, More Connected Pedestrian Infrastructure: Upgrading pedestrian pathways and creating a new gateway to a future trail, strengthening walkability and connectivity throughout the downtown district.
  • Improved Stormwater Management and Infrastructure Reliability: Enhancing drainage systems and relocating electrical utilities underground to improve resilience, reliability, safety, and the appearance of downtown streets.
  • Stronger Foundations for Economic Growth: Creating more welcoming public spaces that complement the Borough's ongoing investments in green space, public art, and downtown revitalization, encouraging greater foot traffic and supporting local commerce.

Delivering For Pennsylvania's First District

The Quakertown streetscape project builds on Fitzpatrick's broader efforts to revitalize historic downtowns, support small businesses, modernize essential infrastructure, and strengthen local economies throughout Bucks and Montgomery counties.

Through the FY2026 Community Project Funding process, Fitzpatrick successfully championed more than $27.5 million for 11 community projects addressing critical local needs across Pennsylvania's First District.

With this latest round of funding, Fitzpatrick has brought more than $80 million in federal Community Project Funding to PA-01 since FY2022, translating priorities identified by local communities into lasting investments in the people, services, and infrastructure that strengthen the region.

Together, these investments reflect Fitzpatrick's community-first leadership, empowering local organizations, responding to community needs, and ensuring federal resources translate into meaningful, measurable, and lasting benefits for Bucks and Montgomery counties.
