US Agriculture Department Invested $330 Million in Wisconsin

(Stevens Point, Wisconsin, April 27, 2026) - In the last year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development made $330 million in investments in rural communities across Wisconsin. These investments helped to boost Wisconsin's economy, invest in agricultural opportunities, develop rural infrastructure, and encourage private investment in rural America.

USDA Rural Development investments in Wisconsin focused on rural communities by financing infrastructure, agribusiness projects, rental assistance, and single-family housing, along with community facility investments that help improve public safety and healthcare access in rural areas.

• Investment in Community Projects: $178 million
• Investment in Economic Development and Agribusiness Projects: $27 million

Projects Highlighted:

• Croix Regional Medical Center will construct a 130,000-square-foot replacement critical access hospital facility in St. Croix Falls with $105 million through the Community Facilities Direct Loans and Guaranteed Loans program. The funding includes a $95 million direct loan and a $10 million guaranteed loan.
• The Town of Campbell will install a new water utility system with a $30.8 million loan and an $8.5 million grant through the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has been supplying bottled water to the town since 2021.
• Westby Cooperative Creamery,, a farmer-owned cooperative that is the only cottage cheese manufacturer in Wisconsin, will expand and modernize its manufacturing facility with a nearly $15.5 million loan through the Business and Industry (B&I) Loan Guarantees program and partner bank the Security Financial Bank. The expansion will help meet the needs of the growing cottage cheese industry.
