CBJ Facilities Closed, Services Reduced Due to Winter Storm

City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) facilities and services are closed or experiencing limited operations today, December 28, due to the severe winter weather and ongoing snowfall in Juneau.

CBJ crews have been working through the night to keep up with snowfall, prioritizing major arterials, followed by residential streets, however, more rain and snow is in the forecast. Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads where possible for their safety and the safety of others until the storm clears.

CBJ Facilities Closed

• All Juneau Public Library locations are closed today.
• All Juneau Parks & Recreation facilities are closed today. This includes the Dimond Park Field House, Dimond Park Aquatic Center, Augustus G. Brown Pool and Treadwell Arena. Shéiyi X̱aat Hit Youth Shelter remains open.

Capital Transit Operating on Winter Routes

Capital Transit winter routes today include the following adjustments for safety reasons:

• No service on Glacier Highway between the Federal Building and Bartlett Hospital until conditions improve.
• No service up Cordova Street to Cedar Park on Douglas Island. Please wait for the bus at the Breeze In stop.
• No service on Franklin or 4th street in Downtown Juneau. Please wait for the bus at the Downtown Transit Center stop.

Transit riders can expect delays on all routes.

Fish Creek Road, Eaglecrest Ski Area Temporarily Closed

Fish Creek Road will be closed until road conditions improve. Eaglecrest Ski Area will be closed due to the Fish Creek Road closure.

CBJ is closely monitoring the storm and road conditions and will provide an update on CBJ facilities and operations for Monday, December 29 when available.
