Cassidy Secures Nearly $6 Million for Louisiana Flood Protection, Economy with Support from His Infrastructure Bill

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced Louisiana will receive $5,800,000.00 in federal funding through the Delta Regional Authority (DRA), which received increased funding through his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The funding will support critical water, wastewater, and drainage projects to reduce flood risk, strengthen drainage systems, and support the economy in communities across the state.

"Louisianans need to know their homes are protected and their water is safe," said Dr. Cassidy. "This funding I secured is going directly to Louisiana communities to reduce flood risk, modernize water systems, and support the local economy."

Funding Amount Recipient Project Description
$2,000,000.00 St. Bernard Parish This grant provides federal funding for drainage improvements in Arabi to reduce flood risk and improve community resilience
$2,000,000.00 City of Westwego This grant provides federal funding to modernize the wastewater treatment system.
$1,000,000.00 Madison Parish Port Commission This grant provides federal funding for transportation and sewer infrastructure improvements to support port growth and commercial access
$800,000.00 Pointe Coupee Parish Government This grant provides federal funding for water system upgrades to ensure reliable service and eliminate interruptions
