Snow, Sleet, Repeat: Cary Remains Ready for Potential Mid-Week Precip

  • Cary's A+Team calls on the Elite Eight to staff Snow Command Wednesday night into Thursday due to forecasted potential of wintry precipitation.

  • At this time, curbside collection remains delayed one day and there are no additional impacts to operations.

Cary, NC - Different day, same gameplan for Cary's A+Team as the forecast for Wednesday threatens snow and sleet overnight into Thursday. Because the weather is predicted to start as rain and due to the abundance of salt and salt/sand mix already on streets, there will be no special brining for this event. The Elite Eight will staff snow command starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday to address slick spots and historically icy patches, and support crews remain on the ready to scale and address any additional weather impacts.

Based on the current forecast, all Cary facilities and services are operating as scheduled. Note that because of the weekend snow, curbside collection remains delayed one day this week. Should inclement weather cause delays, GoCary will notify riders via its app and at gocary.org. Non-emergency weather-related requests for services should be directed to Cary 311.

As a reminder, the A+Team plows and treats roads at one-inch accumulation and in priority order, starting with major thoroughfares, followed by primary streets within subdivisions, then through-streets in subdivisions, and then cul-de-sacs based on the curbside collection schedule. The Town does not treat private parking lots, including those in apartment and condominium complexes, businesses, or commercial centers.

Drivers can monitor real-time road conditions using Cary's live traffic cam and live traffic map. For winter weather preparation tips, visit carync.gov/cold, and for the most up-to-date information, follow Cary on our social media channels.

This is the Town's only Wednesday weather news release unless changing conditions warrant different action.
