Monday & Tuesday Collection Day? Set Carts Out on Tuesday, January 20, 2026
If your trash and recycling is collected on Mondays by the Streets Division, place the scheduled cart (or carts) out for collection by 6:30am on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
If you have a scheduled Tuesday collection date by the Streets Division, you should also put the scheduled cart (or carts) from your home out for emptying by 6:30am on January 20.
If you set your carts out after 6:30am for their scheduled pickup, you may miss your collection opportunity. You will need to wait until the next scheduled pickup day to have your carts emptied.
If you don't know how the holiday will cause your trash & recycling to be delayed, check your collection schedule.
If you would like a paper copy of the schedule mailed to you, contact the Streets Division office to have one mailed to your home.
Large Item Collection
Due to the holiday, large item collection will start collecting items with a Sunday, January 18, 2026, set out date on Tuesday, January 20.
More information about large item collection and the work order system can be found on the Streets Division's website.
Drop-off Sites
The City of Madison drop-off sites will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026 for the holiday.
The sites will reopen for their normal winter operating hours on Tuesday, January 20.
Check the Streets Division's website to verify the locations and hours before loading up a vehicle to bring material to a site.
