SGMC Health honored its Hospitality Team as Health System Heroes at the December Board of Directors meeting. The group of 8 employees was recognized for their unwavering commitment to creating a warm, welcoming environment for patients and visitors who enter SGMC Health Main, the system's largest hospital.
Positioned in the main lobby and Emergency Department, Hospitality Associates serve as the first point of contact, providing essential services such as patient information, wayfinding support, and wheelchair assistance. Beyond these core responsibilities, the team consistently goes above and beyond to deliver moments of unexpected kindness-small gestures that make a big difference during vulnerable times. Whether offering a reassuring smile, walking a family to their destination, or simply listening, these acts of compassion ease stress and foster comfort.
Since the main campus expansion began in fall 2024, the Hospitality Team has continued to elevate the patient experience by creating an environment where every individual feels valued and supported. Their dedication has brought stability and warmth during this exciting period of growth, fostering a sense of calm and connection as the health system transforms.
