Overnight Closure of Eastbound State Route 24 (SR-24) Caldecott Tunnel Bore #2

Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 10:00 PM to 4:30 AM

Alameda and Contra Costa Counties - Caltrans maintenance will continue with the overnight closure of Bore 2 in the Caldecott Tunnel on eastbound State Route 24 (SR-24) to facilitate cementitious drainpipe sampling, water sludge collection, and routine tunnel maintenance. All scheduled activities are subject to weather conditions and may be adjusted as required.

Bore #2 Closure Schedule for EB SR-24:

  • Tuesday, May 19, 2026
  • 10:00 PM - 4:30 AM

During this closure, at least one bore in each direction will remain open.

Traffic Control Measures:

Changeable message signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Motorists are advised to expect delays, prepare to merge and allow for extra travel time. Please drive with caution through the construction zone. Slow for the Cone Zone.
