Free Webinar September 29: Single Article Tax

NASHVILLE -- The Department of Revenue will host a free webinar on single article tax on Tuesday, September 29, at 9 a.m. Central time.

During this webinar, Department of Revenue staff will discuss the single-article tax and how it applies to reporting individual taxable items on the local tax return. Our team will break down what counts as a single article, how the tax is calculated, and why it matters for everyday business purchases. This session is perfect for local business owners, bookkeepers, and anyone involved in preparing or reviewing tax returns.

The Department of Revenue is responsible for administering state tax laws and motor vehicle title and registration laws, and for collecting the taxes and fees associated with those laws. The department collects about 87 percent of the total state revenue. During the 2025 fiscal year, it collected $21 billion in state taxes and fees and more than $5 billion in local taxes and fees.
