South Fulton, Ga. - U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock, alongside Congresswoman Lucy McBath (GA-06), are delivering resources to upgrade South Fulton's stormwater infrastructure.
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock and Rep. McBath brought Republicans and Democrats together to help improve South Fulton's stormwater infrastructure, including the replacement of old stormwater pipes and measures to mitigate the effect of flooding near homes.
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock and Rep. McBath are delivering $1,092,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on January 23.
"Bringing Republicans and Democrats together, we are delivering new resources to upgrade stormwater infrastructure for families in South Fulton," Sen. Ossoff said. "I will continue working to secure upgrades for Georgia's infrastructure to keep communities safe and upgrade quality of life."
"The resilience of our communities is tied to having good stormwater and flooding infrastructure," said Senator Warnock. "I am proud to partner with my Georgia colleagues to bring these federal funds to South Fulton to help make sure the community is well prepared for years to come."
"Safe and efficient stormwater infrastructure is essential for a thriving community," McBath said. "As South Fulton continues to grow, funding was needed to repair and replace failing stormwater components. I was proud to join my colleagues to bring federal dollars back home to South Fulton to reduce flooding risks and protect the city's drinking water supply."
"On behalf of the citizens of South Fulton we appreciate the strong efforts of Senators Jon Ossoff, Raphael Warnock, and Lucy McBath for advancing this bipartisan investment in the City's stormwater infrastructure. This funding represents a pragmatic approach to public safety-translating federal resources into reduced flood risk, strengthened infrastructure, and improved quality of life for our residents," said Carmalitha Gumbs, Mayor of the City of South Fulton.
