Magaziner Attends Ceremony Marking 25th Anniversary of September 11th Attacks in New York City

NEW YORK, NY - Today, U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner, Ranking Member of the Counterterrorism and Intelligence Subcommittee on the House Homeland Security Committee, joined elected officials, dignitaries, and family members of victims at the remembrance ceremony event at Ground Zero in New York City to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

Magaziner took part in the September 11th Annual Commemoration Ceremony on the Memorial plaza, where family members read the names of the nearly 3,000 people killed in the attacks. The ceremony included seven moments of silence marking when each of the World Trade Center towers was struck and when each fell, the attack on the Pentagon, the crash of Flight 93 near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and the lives lost in the years since to 9/11-related illness and injury.

"Twenty-five years later, we owe it to the victims, survivors and first responders who ran toward danger to make sure that our nation never forgets," said Magaziner. "As we stand with the families of those who lost loved ones, we must commit to caring for the first responders who developed lasting illnesses because of their service and to work across party lines to prevent another attack like this from ever happening again."

The visit began Thursday, when Members toured the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, laid flowers at the Memorial, and previewed the Museum's new 25th Anniversary Exhibition ahead of its public opening.

Magaziner was joined by several of his colleagues on the Homeland Security Committee including the Committee Chair, Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-NY-02),, Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-TX-19), Rep. Clay Fuller (R-GA-14), Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY-10), Rep. David Joyce (R-OH-14), Rep. Tim Kennedy (D-NY-26), Rep. Nick LaLota (R-NY-01), Rep. Analilia Mejia (D-NJ-11), Rep. Matt Van Epps (R-TN-07), and Rep. James Walkinshaw (D-VA-11).
