On Friday, February 6th, Minister of National Defence, Radu Miruță, had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Romania, Her Excellency Anna Hällerman, at the Ministry of National Defence headquarters.
The two officials exchanged views on current developments in the field of security and defence, as well as on the main priorities of common interest, both bilaterally and at Euro-Atlantic level.
During the talks, the Defence Minister highlighted the solid level of bilateral cooperation, based on common values and both states firm commitment to strengthening European security. In this context, Radu Miruță stressed the importance of close coordination within the EU and NATO, in order to effectively manage current security challenges and strengthen the deterrence and collective defençe posture on the entire eastern flank, from north to south.
Minister of National Defence also reiterated the importance of providing continued support to Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, in the strategic context characterized by instability and complex threats and against the background of the security situation in the Black Sea region.
At the end of the meeting, the MoND official expressed the Romanian side's willingness to maintain a constant and constructive dialogue, expressing the belief that the cooperative relationship between Romania and the Kingdom of Sweden in the field of defence would continuously enhance and contribute significantly to strengthening regional and Euro-Atlantic security.
