BARROW COUNTY, GA - Weather permitting, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) will implement traffic pacing on SR 316 east and westbound and a partial left turn lane closure on SR 316 eastbound at Carl-Bethlehem Road, to allow for beam setting on the new overpass bridge.
Crews will implement a traffic pace between Harry McCarty Road and Patrick Mill Road on SR 316 east and westbound overnight on September 28, 29, and 30. Traffic pacing will begin at 10:00pm and be completed by 4:59am. Traffic pacing will last no more than 20 minutes at a time and be overseen by the Design-Build team and local law enforcement to allow for safe movement of cranes and equipment.
During approved nighttime closure hours, 8 p.m.- 5:29 a.m., crews will implement a partial left turn lane closure to allow for bridge beam setting, material deliveries, and other work activities on the new bridge. This closure will take place on September 28, 29, and 30 at the intersection of SR 316 eastbound and Carl-Bethlehem Road. While the majority of the lane will be closed as needed, left turn access will be maintained.

The SR 316 at Carl-Bethlehem Road Reconstruction Project is part of Georgia DOT's effort to improve mobility, reduce crashes, promote safety, and improve traffic flow along State Route (SR) 8/SR 316/US 29. The project includes the upgrade of the existing signalized, at-grade crossing at SR 316 and Carl-Bethlehem Road to a grade separation/overpass bridge. The project also includes an approved detour of SR 316 at Carl-Bethlehem Road, which will be implemented and announced at a later date.
