City invites K-12 students to create Yuma’s America 250 poster

The City of Yuma is inviting local students in kindergarten through 12th grade to create artwork for a poster that will represent Yuma in the Freedom 250 City Art Poster Project.

Organized by the U.S. Conference of Mayors and the National Endowment for the Arts, the project commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Participating cities will select posters inspired by their communities.

Students are encouraged to draw inspiration from Yuma's history, the people and places that shape the community, and their hopes for its future. Each design should include the words "Yuma" and "America 250." Posters must be nonpartisan and cannot include political messages or contain inappropriate language.

Designs should be vertical, with a final poster size of 24 inches wide by 32 inches high.

Entries must be submitted to [email protected] by Friday, October 23, 2026. Mayor Doug Nicholls will select Yuma's official poster, which the City will submit for display at the U.S. Conference of Mayors' Winter Meeting in January 2027.
