Massport Launches Massport Next to Turn New Ideas into Real World Solutions

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) recently announced the launch of Massport Next, a new platform for innovation that serves as a central connection point for startups, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, researchers, and public partners to collaborate, test new ideas, and bring innovative solutions to life.

"Massport Next is about opening our doors to new ideas and fresh perspectives," said Rich Davey, Massport CEO. "Whether it's a startup with a new technology, a researcher with a groundbreaking idea or an industry partner looking to collaborate, we want Massport Next to be a hub where people can connect, test solutions and help shape the future of the innovation economy here in Massachusetts."

While Massport's airports and waterfront properties may provide opportunities to test and demonstrate new technologies, the initiative focuses on building connections, fostering collaboration and helping promising technologies move from the drawing board into everyday operations. Massport Next supports the Authority's mission to serve as an economic engine for New England while helping strengthen the Commonwealth's growing aviation and maritime sectors.

Through this initiative, the Authority will explore thoughtful solutions that enhance operations and build upon successful innovation efforts already underway across the Authority, including:

  • Sustainable Aviation Fuel Hub: Advancing sustainable aviation through partnerships that accelerate the development and adoption of sustainable aviation fuel across New England.
  • Remote Terminal in Framingham: Reimagining the airport experience with the nation's first off-site TSA screening and baggage check facility, providing travelers with a more convenient and seamless journey to Boston Logan.
  • Customer Experience Improvements: Enhancing the passenger journey through innovative technologies, including the OSCAR intelligent recycling system that improves waste sorting and sustainability efforts.
  • Blue Edge: Creating opportunities for blue technology companies to pilot and demonstrate innovative maritime tools that improve operations, create jobs, and support the future of the Port of Boston.
