Rep. Lynn Smith Receives 2026 Georgia Farm Bureau Commodity Award

ATLANTA - State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan), chair of the House Natural Resources and Environment Committee, recently received the 2026 Georgia Farm Bureau Commodity Award, one of the organization's highest honors, during Georgia Farm Bureau's (GFB) annual Commodity Conference on August 13, 2026, at the University of Georgia Tifton Campus. The GFB Commodity Award is given to individuals who have supported and promoted Georgia agriculture, and award recipients are selected by the GFB Board of Directors from nominees submitted by the organization's commodity advisory committees.

"I am deeply honored to be recognized with this distinguished award by the Georgia Farm Bureau and am grateful for their many years of friendship and partnership," said Rep. Smith. "Since taking office nearly three decades ago, I have always strived to work hand-in-hand with Georgia farmers and our rural communities to protect our state's largest industry and the vast resources that sustain it, and I have truly valued GFB's guidance, input and collaboration along the way. I am grateful to our agriculture community for their support and wish to extend my sincerest gratitude to GFB President Tom McCall, a trusted colleague, friend and champion for Georgia farmers. I am proud of the policies that we have championed together to ensure that agriculture continues to thrive in Georgia for generations to come."

GFB notes that since being elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1996, Rep. Smith has been a champion for Georgia's farmers and rural communities. GFB highlights that during her tenure as chair of the House Natural Resources and Environment Committee, Rep. Smith led efforts to protect Georgia's natural resources while supporting the continued growth of the state's agricultural economy.

Founded in 1937, GFB is the state's largest general farm organization and has 158 county offices. GFB serves more than 250,000 member families to support locally grown food and stewardship of the land.

Representative Lynn Smith represents the citizens of District 70, which includes portions of Carroll and Coweta counties. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1996 and currently serves as Chair of the Natural Resources & Environment Committee. She also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government, Creative Arts & Entertainment, Economic Development & Tourism, Reapportionment and Redistricting, Rules and Small Business Development committees, as well as the Special Committee on Resource Management.
