Triton High School Students Tour Al-Corn Clean Fuel

Burnsville, Nov 5 - Thirty-three students from Triton High School's Integrated Science class toured Al-Corn Clean Fuel today to learn about ethanol production.

"Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association was pleased to welcome Triton High School's Integrated Science class to our producer member, Al-Corn Clean Fuel. Tours like these give students the chance to view real-world applications of concepts learned in the classroom and insight into professional career opportunities existing within their communities."

"These tours also provide us with an opportunity to share with them the vital role our industry plays in lowering fuel costs for Minnesotans, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening our rural economies and supporting energy independence," said Brian Werner, executive director at the Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association (MN Bio-Fuels).

During the tour, the students learned about the various processes to produce ethanol. This included incoming grain grading and handling, fermentation, grain storage, shipping ethanol, as well as the production of ethanol co-products such as dried distillers grains.

The students were accompanied by Triton High School science teacher, Brian Felten.

"Today's tour exposed students to career opportunities in our community. Making students aware of these opportunities after high school is an important step in assisting them in finding a future career. Not only do we want students to be successful, but we also want to encourage them to stay in the area so that our local communities remain strong and viable," he said.

Their tour was the second time Al-Corn Clean Fuel has welcomed a group of students from Triton High School this year. In September, 15 students from the school's agriculture economics class toured the plant.

Both tours were organized by the MN Bio-Fuels. Al-Corn Clean Fuel is a member of MN Bio-Fuels.
