The high-profile panellists in Berlin included Dr Alexander Lücke, Head of the National Economic Security, Energy Security, Natural Gas and LNG Division at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Dr Kirsten Westphal, Member of the Executive Board of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), and Dr Thomas Hüwener, Chairman of the Board of Management of the host OGE. The subsequent panel discussion was moderated by Marco Seiffert (radioeins/rbb television).
"The federal government continues to make great efforts to achieve national and European climate protection targets while ensuring the security of natural gas supplies. At the same time, the ramp-up of hydrogen is being facilitated and the conditions for carbon dioxide storage in particular are being created. And all this at affordable prices," emphasizes Dr. Alexander Lücke from the Ministry.
"The triad of methane, hydrogen, and CCS is needed to address the goals of security of supply, economic efficiency, and climate neutrality in a balanced way," finally emphasizes Dr. Kirsten Westphal from BDEW.
The Energy Policy Dialogue in Berlin concludes another year of considerable momentum. Following the formation of the new Bundestag in March, ministries, committees, offices and roles were partly re-staffed. The next OGE Energy Policy Dialogue, the Energy Policy Dialogue Ruhr, will take place in Essen on 16 June 2026.
