SPR Therapeutics Acquired by Medtronic

RC Capital (RCC) successfully exited its investment in SPR Therapeutics following the company's acquisition by Medtronic, a global leader in medical technology. This milestone marks another successful outcome in RC Capital's strategy of building leading healthcare platforms that improve patient outcomes, expand access to care, and lower costs across the healthcare system.

RC Capital invested in SPR Therapeutics in 2021 to support the expansion of the company's SPR® Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (PNS) System, a minimally invasive neuromodulation platform designed to provide sustained pain relief without opioids or permanent implants. Our investment thesis centered on the belief that SPR was uniquely positioned to address a large and growing pain management market through a differentiated clinical offering supported by strong physician adoption, favorable reimbursement momentum, and compelling patient outcomes driven by a non-opioid, non-surgical, and minimally invasive approach to peripheral nerve stimulation.

In partnership with the RC Capital team, SPR Therapeutics continued to expand commercialization of its platform, deepen clinical validation across multiple indications, and strengthen its position as a leader in peripheral nerve stimulation. SPR built a robust intellectual property portfolio consisting of 291 issued and pending patents and established the largest body of clinical evidence in peripheral nerve stimulation, supported by more than 130 peer-reviewed publications validating the SPRINT platform.

"We extend our sincere gratitude to Maria Bennett and the entire SPR Therapeutics team for their partnership, outstanding execution, and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of patients suffering from chronic pain through a non-opioid, non-surgical treatment option. Their dedication to advancing innovative pain management solutions was instrumental in building an exceptional company and achieving this successful outcome," says Carter McNabb, Managing Partner, RC Capital

This transaction marks the sixth liquidity event for Fund VI-a testament to the strength of our mission: Partnering to empower sustainable change in healthcare.
