Dr. Bill McCreary, vice president, chief information officer and chief technology officer at The University of Toledo, has been named to the inaugural Cyber25, a list of 25 leaders "protecting Ohio's digital future."
Cyber25 is a new annual recognition from Ohio Tech News and OhioX, presented by ATC. It honors cybersecurity leaders who are protecting Ohio's businesses, public services and critical infrastructure while preparing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
Dr. Bill McCreary, vice president, chief information officer and chief technology officer at UToledo.
McCreary leads UToledo's technology organization and serves as executive sponsor of the University's information-security program across both academic and clinical operations. Under the University's broader technology leadership, UToledo has built a cybersecurity pipeline spanning undergraduate and graduate programs, artificial intelligence-based cyber research and a student development program.
"Cybersecurity is about trust," McCreary said. "Our students need to trust that their information is safe, our patients need to trust that their care won't be interrupted, and our researchers need to trust that their work is protected. I'm proud to help lead a team that takes that responsibility seriously, and proud that UToledo is also preparing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals."
Honorees were selected for real-world impact, demonstrated leadership, a meaningful Ohio tie and work done or significantly advanced in the past 24 months. This year's honorees work across industry, government, education and workforce development.
"Dr. McCreary's leadership helps ensure that UToledo's academic and clinical missions can move forward with confidence," President James Holloway said. "This recognition reflects his expertise and the commitment of our technology teams to protecting the people we serve and preparing students for careers in a field that is vital to Ohio's future."
