Hope is celebrated in this year’s spring concert

An evening of music centered on hope will take place at Fresno Pacific University during its spring choir concert, A Song of Hope.

The concert will be held April 23, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the Warkentine Culture and Arts Center, located on the FPU main campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno. Admission is free and all are invited to attend.

The program will feature a variety of selections including When You Believe from the film The Prince of Egypt, and popular worship number Revelation Song.

"All of the texts either reference hope or correlate to the theme in some way," said FPU Clinical Assistant Professor of Music, Carrie Vail. "Hope in God, hope in others, hope for ourselves and God working through us."

One featured piece was written by composer Cliff Davis, a personal friend of Vail's from Ohio. The song tells the story of Jesus' baptism, including God's words to Jesus and those surrounding him in that moment. The choir will be joined by accompanist Matt Horton.

The concert represents the culmination of the work put in over the past year. The program includes pieces that have stood out over the course of the year, including two pieces that FPU students performed at the Western ACDA Conference in San Jose earlier this year. Three voice majors who are graduating later this spring will also have solos during the concert.

Vail said she is excited for attendees to hear the variety of music and to experience the work of the choir over the past year.
