The San Rafael Fire Department is proud to recognize Captain Conan Kelly for being nominated for the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Safety, Health and Survival Section's firefighter wellness recognition program.

Captain Kelly was nominated by SRFD CQI/RN Christina Gossner in recognition of his unwavering commitment to improving the health, safety, and well-being of San Rafael firefighters. For more than 16 years, Conan has been a driving force behind initiatives that have strengthened our department's wellness culture, including comprehensive health screenings, expanded cancer detection efforts, improved nutrition, modern fitness resources, and dedicated time for physical training.

In its letter of recognition, the IAFC noted that Captain Kelly's leadership has inspired firefighters to embrace healthier lifestyles while reinforcing that investing in firefighter wellness is essential to operational readiness. His nominator summed it up best:

"What sets Conan apart from others who talk about firefighter wellness is that he leads by example-completely and authentically."

While Captain Kelly was one of many outstanding nominees from across the country, this recognition highlights the lasting impact his leadership has had on our department. His dedication has helped improve the health, careers, and quality of life of countless members of the San Rafael Fire Department.
