Two Mexican Navy Ships Set Sail with Humanitarian Aid for the People of Venezuela
  • The Navy is shipping approximately 2,003 cubic meters of aid to the Venezuelan people

The Ministries of the Navy and Foreign Affairs report that the logistics support ships Isla Holbox and Huasteco set sail for Venezuela today, carrying approximately 2,003 cubic meters of humanitarian aid, at the instruction of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, Supreme Commander of the Mexican Armed Forces.

The humanitarian aid is being transported through the close collaboration between the Navy and the Foreign Ministry, and with the support of companies, foundations, and civil society organizations.

The ARM Holbox (BAL-02) is carrying a shipment of foodstuffs, bottled water, personal hygiene items, medications, and medical supplies, totaling approximately 1,750 cubic meters, along with four water purification units capable of producing 1,000 liters of purified water per hour, plus their operators.

The ARM Huasteco (AMP-01) is carrying foodstuffs, bottled water, personal hygiene items, and medical supplies, totaling 253 cubic meters.

The supplies, delivered by the Mexican government, come from donations made at various collection centers set up in Mexico City, and were gathered at the ASIPONA Veracruz dock, where they were loaded onto the ships.

Through the First Naval Region in Veracruz, Ver., 100 naval personnel from the Emergency Response Brigades (BRE) are handling the loading, sea transport, and unloading of the cargo, using one crane and two forklifts.

Both ships departed today, with an estimated travel time of six days. This aid is in addition to the plane that left for Venezuela earlier this week carrying eight power generators.

As the President has stated, the Mexican government reaffirms through these actions its spirit of solidarity, as well as its cooperative spirit and humanitarian tradition with all the peoples of Latin America and the world facing hardship from natural disasters.
