MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg will host a series of virtual information sessions about the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing's second-degree nursing program, which is offered at the Penn State Harrisburg, Behrend and Altoona campuses.
The United States is experiencing a nursing shortage; according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the registered nurse (RN) workforce is expected to grow to 3.3 million in 2023, up from 3.1 million in 2022. The bureau projects 193,100 openings for RNs each year through 2032.
The second-degree program is intended for those who desire to begin a career in nursing and have already earned a bachelor's degree in another field. The information sessions will be held via Zoom and are open to anyone interested in the program at any of the three campuses.
Attendees will learn more about the program, the application cycles, prerequisite coursework necessary and the locations the program is offered. Representatives from the second-degree nursing program, financial aid, admissions and the graduate school will join the sessions, and there will be an opportunity for questions.
The sessions will be held as follows:
Those interested in attending should reach out to Ronda Stump, senior professional academic adviser for the School of Behavioral Sciences and Education and the College of Nursing, at [email protected]to obtain the Zoom link.
