Advisory: Homemade "plasma cannons," such as those featured in viral online videos, can pose serious safety risks - including burn injuries, property damage, and exposure to toxic fumes produced by burning or melting plastics. The Greensboro Police Department urges the public not to build or use homemade devices that ignite pressurized gases or other explosive material. Depending on how these devices are used, particularly in public spaces, individuals may face criminal charges if their actions result in injury to others or damage to property. Those interested in learning about the science behind thermodynamics are encouraged to explore these subjects through supervised, safety-certified educational programs rather than attempting potentially dangerous do-it-yourself experiments.
